What She Said

As the gf commented I can now return to my scheduled blogging. I’m sad that she is gone, but I tend to become a bum during the time she is visiting.

Another weekend of racing is done with for the Sir Edmond Series. The turn out was great, probably even better than last week!! I’m hoping by next week we will have built up the Titus I’ll be riding this next year. More info later once I figure out what all is going on it.

The shop is staying pretty busy for the end of January. Nothing too bad, but it could always be busier. We have been rearranging for the past week and it is finally starting to sort out. The showroom is more open, and the coffee bar was moved into the showroom and out of the shop. I kind of miss it but there is a much more open feeling now.

A lot of things are up in the air right now from riding to work. Hopefully the end of the week will bring some closure and feeling of comfort. Havent been getting as much saddle time as I would like but that time will come.

Out of Service

I haven’t forgotten.

I’ll get back to the writing come tomorrow afternoon.

Jeannie came Saturday morning and surprised me!! I’m a bit busy till she leaves tomorrow morning.

Till then.

As I stated in my last post I finally hooked up cable at my new apartment. Since yesterday my feedburner has been working overtime finding all the blogs I have been neglecting. There are many new reviews on various geeky bike gadgets. Long epic tales of everyones mid winter base training.

My top ten :

  1. 2006 LED Light Review via GearReview – I think I’ll start refering customers to that link. There is no way I would ever be able to test out everyone of those lights and remember every detail that is layed out in the article.
  2. Continental Trainer Tire – My Grand Prix 4 Seasons can get eaten alive on the trainer. A somewhat cheap alternative. If they work and don’t spew rubber all over my wall I’ll let you know.
  3. Cohutta 100 Miler – Somewhat local to Charlotte – 100 miler. The forums have been saying it is a lot like the SM100 up in VA. Maybe I could get away with doing the 35 miler.
  4. Team Dicky Blog – A local rider/customer that rocks the SS hard. Sports the Blacksheep jersey damn well.
  5. Gurlz on Bikes – No explaination needed.
  6. MTBCast – Podcast? No MTBCast!! Only listened to one, but seems like a good idea. Podcast entertain me while I’m one the trainer.. so good ones are great for me.
  7. Mountain Turtle Market – Support Kent, buy good things. Win win. Also check out his blog that’s goodness too.
  8. 24 Hours of Pisgah – Will the Blacksheep Womens Team be ready?
  9. Burn 24 - I know tons of races but they are somewhat local to Charlotte.
  10. Ali did another Marathon – Last but most important. Good job Ali, maybe next time you’ll train again??

short post but I wanted to say that I have internet at my new home. Which means post should pick up soon.

That’s all

Nite Riding

Last night I joined a few friends as they rode around the short track at Reni with their lights on. I had already rode that day and instead decided to be the babysitter of one of their dogs (Kona.) I’m slowly becoming his auntie so I figured bonding time was much needed.

The photos aren’t that great as I didn’t have a tripod and I’m trying to learn the features of the fully automatic camera I’ve been borrowing.

It’s very weird that almost any trail down here is open for night riding year round. Back in Maryland you had to have a deal with the rangers to pull it off.

Muddin It Up

Yesterday morning I found myself rolling out of the house a bit too early in the pouring rain. It was the first race of the Sir Edmond Halley’s Cup Winter Series. I wasn’t planning on racing but a couple team members were going to and I also decided to volunteer my services in the morning before work.

Juniors were as always first. A good group of them turned out too!! All ages, sizes and all were PUMPED. The race started and the rain continued. Was the worst for those 30 minutes. Horizontal rain, and kids with goggles. Priceless.

Beginner men followed — again a GREAT turn out.

Finally the womens beginner/sport. Taryn one of my team members was out sporting her SS in the sport class. She did great. 3rd infact. All mudbaked and sloppy.
Pictures found on BikePASA.
Not exactly sure how my other team members did — haven’t heard any race reports from them yet. Maybe I’ll be there racing beginner.

Time will tell.

Rules for 2006

It was a forward. Seems like everyones resolution was to do forwards in ’06
—————————–

New Rule ..1: Stop giving me that pop-up ad for Classmates.com! There’s a
reason you don’t talk to people for 25 years. Because you don’t
particularly like them! Besides, I already know what the captain of the
football team is doing these days: mowing my lawn.

New Rule ..2: Don’t eat anything that’s served to you out a window unless
you’re a seagull. People are acting all shocked that a human finger was
found in a bowl of Wendy’s chili. Hey, the chili costs less than a
dollar. What did you expect it to contain? Trout? Luckily, it was only
a finger! If it were a whole hand, Congress would have voted to keep it
alive.

New Rule ..3: Stop saying that teenage boys who have sex with their hot,
blonde teachers are permanently damaged. I have a better description for
these kids: lucky bastards.

New Rule ..4: Ladies, leave your eyebrows alone. Here’s how much men care
about your eyebrows: do you have two of them? Okay, we’re done.

New Rule ..5: There’s no such thing as flavored water. There’s a whole
aisle of this crap at the supermarket, water, but without that watery
taste. Sorry, but flavored water is called a soft drink. You want
flavored water? Pour some scotch over ice and let it melt. That’s your
flavored water.

New Rule ..6: The more complicated the Starbucks order, the bigger the
asshole. If you walk into a Starbucks and order a “decaf grande half-soy,
half-low fat, iced vanilla, double-shot, gingerbread cappuccino, extra
dry, light ice, with one Sweet-n’-Low and one NutraSweet,” ooh, you’re a
huge asshole.

New Rule ..7: Girls, just because your tattoo has Chinese characters in it
doesn’t make you spiritual. Come on, it’s right above the crack of your
ass and it translates to “beef with broccoli.” The last time you did
anything spiritual, you were praying to God you weren’t pregnant.
You’re not spiritual. You were just high when you picked it out.

New Rule ..8: Competitive eating isn’t a sport. It’s one of the seven
deadly sins. ESPN recently televised the US Open of Competitive Eating,
because watching those athletes at the poker table was just too damned
exciting. What’s next, competitive farting? Oh wait. They’re already
doing that. It’s called “The Howard Stern Show.”

New Rule .9: If you’re going to insist on making movies based on crappy,
old television shows, then you have to give everyone in the Cineplex a
remote so we can see what’s playing on the other screens.
Let’s remember the reason something was a television show in the first
place is the idea wasn’t good enough to be a movie.

New Rule ..10: No more gift registries. You know, it used to be just for
weddings. Now it’s for babies and new homes and graduations from rehab.
Picking out the stuff you want and having other people buy it for you
isn’t gift giving, it’s the white people version of looting.

New Rule .11: and this one is long overdue: No more bathroom attendants.
After I zip up, some guy is offering me a towel and a mint like I just had
sex with George Michael. I can’t even tell if he’s supposed to be there,
or just some freak with a fetish. I don’t want to be on your web cam,
dude. I just want to wash my hands.

New Rule .12: When I ask how old your toddler is, I don’t need to know in
months. “27 Months.” “He’s two,” will do just fine. He’s not a cheese.
And I didn’t really care in the first place.

Tonight at 7pm

Sticking to my roots and being the true lesbian that I am. A post about tonights Premiere of Lword. Why you ask? I’ve been looking forward to it all fall/winter long and it is finally here.

Tonight at 7pm I’ll be with all the Charlotte local lesbians hanging out at the local bar (which thankfully is 1/2 mile from work.) Watching the season opener of the “best season yet.”

Now to explain the basis of Lword and why it is so big for me. Sure some of the acting isn’t the best and some of the lines are corny. It is the closest lesbians or even gays have (since Queer as Folk went off) to television that reflects our lives. Any soap opera or nightly tv series is aimed at the normal straight family/guy/girl situation. There is something out there (on Showtime of course) that is showing that lesbians are real people in real situations.. sure a bit out there but real people none the less.
